RMK9 Competition Events
(Not necessarily in order of events).

1. OFF LEASH OBEDIENCE/AGILITY (Max pts 200)
(On leash minus 50 pts/use of reward (pup tug, ball, kong, etc.) minus 50 pts)  The head judge reserves the right to terminate any phase of obedience/agility based on the dogs behavior (out of control dog).  Dogs will be given two chances to complete a task before being told to move onto the next task.    

Phase I –   March through distracters

Phase II –  Obedience (w/ distracters)

Phase III – Obedience course

2. OFF LEASH AREA SEARCH (Timed event/Max pts 100)
Handler calls response NO BITE.  Time starts when handler releases dog/time stops when handler calls response.  Time (with correct response) will be the determining factor on the winner.  The tie breaker will determined by points.

3. ½ MILE RUN to BUILDING SEARCH/DETECTION (Max pts 150) Handler calls response NO BITE.  Time starts when handler releases dog/time stops when handler calls detection response.  Time (with correct response/s) will be the determining factor on the winner.  The tie breaker will determined by points.

4.  HANDLER PROTECTION (Max points 300 points)
This portion of the competition will be conducted in three phases.  Three vehicles will be lined up and the handler (from cover) will conduct a high risk felony stop one vehicle at a time.  Order of each phase will be determined on the day of the handler protection exercise.  The head judge reserves the right to terminate any phase of handler protection based on the dog’s behavior (out of control dog).  Dogs will be given one chance to complete a task before being told to move onto the next task.

Phase I - Resistant Active Phase (100 points)  - A suspect will be in a vehicle.  The handler (from cover) will conduct a high risk felony stop on the vehicle.  The suspect will not exit the vehicle.  The dog will be required to out the suspect.  The suspect may have a sleeve, or full body suit, or a tactical suit/hidden sleeve on.

Phase II - Stand-Off Phase – (100 points) - A suspect will be in a vehicle.  The handler (from cover) will conduct a high risk felony stop on the vehicle.  The suspect will exit the vehicle and fire a .38 cal with blanks and run.  Release the dog when the suspect reaches a cone placed in the field.  The suspect will give up.  The dog will be required to out (guard or heel) w/o biting the decoy.  The suspect may have a sleeve, or full body suit, or a tactical suit/hidden sleeve on.

Phase III - Bite Phase – (100 points) - A suspect will be in a vehicle.  The handler (from cover) will conduct a high risk felony stop on the vehicle.  The suspect will exit the vehicle and fire a .38 cal with blanks and run.  Release the dog when the suspect reaches a cone placed in the field.  The suspect will not give up.  BEWARE OF DISTRACTERS OR THREATENING GESTURE TOWARDS THE DOG!!!!  The dog will be required to out (guard or heel) the decoy.  The suspect may have a sleeve, or full body suit, or a tactical suit/hidden sleeve on.

5. DETECTION ONLY (Bomb and Drug) (Max 500 points)
Dogs teams will search 5 different areas worth 100 points each.  Teams will search vehicles, buildings, warehouse and luggage, and either one of the following:  barracks, aircraft or open area, depending on which area is available.  Each area will have its own time limit.  Maximum placement of aids will be 10’ high and 3’ deep.  Handler will call dog’s response, but will NOT be told if the response was correct!  After response is called, team will finish searching the rest of the area.  The area may be blank, may have a single aid, or may have multiple aids.  Time will start when team enters the area and will stop when handler calls the area clear.  Correct responses will be the determining factor on the winner.  Time will be used as a tie breaker.  BEWARE OF DISTRACTERS IN THE SEARCH AREA!!!
